HEAD coach Carl Hogg was disappointed to leave Bath with nothing to show for Worcester Warriors' “enterprise” after a 37-22 defeat in the Aviva Premiership.

Hogg was left to rue “a 10-minute window” in the second period when Bath overturned a 17-6 deficit to overpower Warriors at the Recreation Ground.

The former Scotland international admitted he would look closely at some of the decisions from referee Craig Maxwell-Keys, particularly at the scrum.

Warriors started strongly at the scrum but struggled in the second period as the Bath pack became the dominant force in the contest.

Hogg said: “I thought we were excellent in the first half with the ball in hand and showed real enterprise and caused Bath some issues defensively.

“The game swung in a 10-minute window in the second half where we made back to back errors and somebody of George Ford’s quality exploited it.

“We showed great endeavour in the first two games, predominantly in defence, but I thought with ball in hand in the first half we were excellent.”

He added: “We started off very well at scrum-time and backed up the performance against Gloucester where we were dominant.

“We started out in a similar trend but I need to take a close look at some of the decisions that went against us in the second half.”

Hogg was pleased with his side’s inexperienced back three – which saw teenager Jamie Shillcock at full-back on his first Premiership outing.

Shillcock had a hand in two of Worcester’s tries, while wingers Dean Hammond and Perry Humphreys both crossed the whitewash.

“We had Jamie (Shillcock), Dean (Hammond) and Perry (Humphreys) and unfortunately we lost Dean to injury and we brought on another teenager, Josh Adams,” said Hogg.

“It was a great experience for them at the Rec against a Bath side with a lot of international players and will stand them in good stead in the future.”

Warriors also handed a first start in the centres to New Zealander Jackson Willison, while Tom Heathcote replaced the injured Ryan Lamb at fly-half.

“It’s great to see Jacko (Willison) having a shot at centre because he’s been at full-back due to an injury to Chris Pennell. We looked a lot more fluent through there."

Hogg added: “I thought we did enough to get something out of the game and we showed a lot more inventiveness which wasn’t there in the first two games due to the amount of ball we had.”
