JERSEY Reds lock Pierce Phillips will be joining Worcester Warriors in the summer.

The 24-year-old, who stands at 6ft 8in, has started in all 48 appearances he has made for Jersey to date.

Phillips had spells at Darlington Mowden Park and in the Yorkshire Carnegie Academy before moving to the Channel Island and has also represented England Counties.

Phillips will join fellow Jersey team-mate Simon Kerrod, a tighthead prop, who is also arriving at Sixways for next term.

Warriors director of rugby Gary Gold said: “Pierce is a promising young talent and he’ll provide stiff competition in the second row.

“Having led Jersey in the Championship, he’s already shown he has leadership qualities and I’m sure he’ll be a fantastic addition to the squad.”

Phillips said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Jersey but I’m looking forward to a new challenge with Warriors.

Sixways has an incredible set-up where players have everything in place to reach their potential and that is exactly what I hope to do when I move to Worcester this summer.

“The club also have a great vision and I’m hoping I can play a part in helping them reach their long-term goal of becoming a top-end side.”
