WORCESTER Warriors academy coach Mike Hill has taken up a new role at Herefordshire club Luctonians.

Hill, who has played for Stourbridge, Birmingham Solihull and Newport, is the forwards coach at the National League Two North outfit.

Hill has been the academy forwards and transition coach at Sixways since August 2016 and will serve both clubs.

Hill, a former academy player at Warriors, said: "I’m really excited to come on board at Luctonians.

“It has great facilities and a young squad who want to learn and progress which is always exciting from a coaching perspective.

“I look forward to seeing where we can take this group of players by building on the great foundations that have previously been laid.”

The prop joins new Luctonians head coach Ryan Watkins in a revised coaching line-up at Mortimer Park.

Watkins took over as Luctonians' backs coach in 2014 and is the manager of the AASE (Achieving Academic and Sporting Excellence) programme at Warriors, a role in which he will continue.

Earlier this month, Warriors' Simon Cross was unveiled as the new head coach at National League One outfit Birmingham Moseley.

The 36-year-old former Edinburgh and Wasps back-rower is Warriors’ breakdown coach.

Cross was previously responsible for defence at Warriors.

However, Worcester until director of rugby Gary Gold brought in Omar Mouneimne as the new defence and kicking strategy coach towards the end of last term.

Cross will combine his roles at both clubs next season.

Luctonians chairman Simon Whiteman said: “We are delighted to have in place our new team for next season in Ryan and Mike.

“They both bring great coaching knowledge and experience to the roles.

“For the club to have a pair of Level Four coaches at our disposal is fantastic news for the development of our local home-grown players.

“You will go a long way locally now to find a better learning environment than the one that will be in place at Mortimer Park next season.”
