WORCESTER Warriors have suffered a further blow with fly-half Jamie Shillcock expected to be out for more than a month.
The promising 20-year-old has undergone knee surgery and Warriors anticipate him to be sidelined for between four and six weeks.
Shillcock played the full 80 minutes of Warriors’ 30-20 victory over Brive, but was not made in the squad to face Connacht last Saturday.
The academy graduate posted a picture of himself in a hospital bed on Twitter and said: “Another one done, back to rehab now and can’t wait to be ready to get out on the pitch again.”
With Shillcock crocked, Jono Lance who started at fly-half in the 15-8 loss to Connacht, is set to retain the number 10 shirt for Worcester’s Aviva Premiership clash at Harlequins on Saturday (3pm).
Scottish stand-off Tom Heathcote who has been overcoming concussion is also understood to be in contention for a place.
The 25-year-old has not featured since suffering a blow to his head in Warriors’ 41-10 home thrashing by Exeter Chiefs last month.
Sam Olver, who played in Worcester Cavaliers’ 32-6 win over Wasps on Monday, is another option for stand-in director of rugby Alan Solomons.
