HEAD coach Carl Hogg provided positive news on Jonny Arr after he was stretchered off in Worcester Warriors’ thrilling 41-35 defeat at Harlequins.

Arr sustained a worrying blow to the head when he collided with number eight Mat Luamanu’s knee on 52 minutes.

The match was stopped for almost 10 minutes as the scrum-half received medical attention before being taken off on a stretcher.

But immediately after the game, Arr was seen applauding Quins’ players off the pitch and Hogg said the number nine was “fine”.

“Obviously with knocks to the head there are a lot of precautions that have to be taken,” Hogg said.

“He is in medical hands now, but he’s fine.

“He’s up, alert, and speaking with all the guys, so there is no issue.”

Arr also took Twitter to confirm he was OK, saying: “Thanks for the messages, all OK, need to stop using my face as a speed bump.”

Along with Arr’s injury, Warriors’ suffered a setback at half-time when Wynand Olivier was forced off with a tight hamstring.

“Wynand just felt a little bit of tightness with his hamstring about a couple of minutes before half-time,” Hogg said.

“It felt safer to not push him out for the second half.”

However, Hogg admitted the injuries to Olivier and Arr and losing Chris Pennell through illness prior to the match did not help his side’s cause.

“We had a few disruptions,” said Hogg whose team came from 38-18 down to clinch two losing bonus points.

“We lost Chris before kick-off, so we had to reshuffle then. At half-time, we lost Wynand with a hamstring issue so we had to reorganise the midfield and then we lost Arr about 15 minutes into the second half.

“There was a long stoppage of play which broke our rhythm a little bit and that’s when Quins got a foothold in the game. But credit to the players for charging back.”
