“TALISMANIC” tighthead prop Nick Schonert faces another lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a blow to his ankle.

The South African-born front rower cut a frustrated figure as he was helped off the field just 12 minutes into Warriors’ 23-8 win over London Irish on Friday.

Schonert was sidelined for almost two months when he damaged ligaments in his ankle in Worcester’s 24-10 loss to Wasps in early September.

And director of rugby Gary Gold feared the 26-year-old who punched the ground in frustration after suffering the blow had sustained a similar injury.

“It was his ankle again,” Gold said.

“It’s the same injury that he had before where he tweaked some ligaments at the side of his ankle.

“I think that was a momentum swinger in the match as our scrum creaked a little bit after that.

“He is a real talisman for us at tighthead.

“Nick is having a difficult season. He went off from the restart in the first home game as he did his ankle then and it seems like he has done the same ligaments in his ankle.”
