ALAN Solomons has been named Worcester Warriors' new director of rugby, replacing Gary Gold.

The 67-year-old South African has agreed a two-and-a-half year deal.

Here's what Warriors' supporters have had to say about Solomons' appointment as boss.

#RugbyWorcs‏ (@RugbyWorcs).

Honestly, if this was a month ago I'd be underwhelmed, but now the correct appointment for me. He's got us playing to our strength and can offer the stability we so desperately need. Let's get our best and brightest signed now.

Mrs Ampo‏ (@Mrsampo).

Great move to provide stability for the players. Should make contract negotiations easier as his straight-talking style is already liked by them.

Stephen Phillips‏( @StevePhillipsXV).

Easy option appointment for me. He’s as big time as the club want to be. Wish him well though.

Anthony Butterworth‏ (@goodlife_wr5).

Not sure Solomons has done much. A big lack of ambition for me in this appointment.

What happened to the young enthusiastic DOR they told us they wanted?

Lindsay Clayton.

Since he arrived we have won three Premiership games and scored some fabulous tries.

The rugby we are playing is getting the attention of the pundits.

Craig Davies.

All those banging on about Mallinder are deluded. He was never in the conversation. That was wishful thinking on the fans part. We could not afford him.

This is Worcester. We take the cheapest option. Good luck to Solomons.

Jason Viljoen.

Awesome. Great work ethic and a coach that knows what to do to get the best out of a team.

Well supported by his old work college Omar Mouneimne, with Hogg as well this should be a great combination.

Angus Davis.

Cannot believe the board have been so backward thinking again!

When will they ever learn? Solomons was already retired. We need someone for the long term not just two years!

Craig Taylor.

Appears to have made an impact since arriving, but hardly smacks of long-term given his age.

This club needs to stop existing to survive and move forward. Good Luck to Alan.

Toby Robins.

I'm happy with that, continuity for the players, attacking rugby and suits our playing style.

Matt Bradley.

Would like to see Vesty step up to head coach with the option to become DOR in a few years.

What an underwhelming appointment. Very disappointed.

Warr-i-ors!.

Whether his appointment excites you or not, let’s just hope it gives the club some stability and the players buy into him.

Hopefully he can keep our best players at Sixways - Heem, Adams, Mills, Hougaard etc.

Southstand(again).

Healthy bit of continuity - something that has been lacking for a couple of seasons.

Hopefully the club will now sort out this ownership saga sooner rather than later and add stability to this continuity.
