DIRECTOR of rugby Alan Solomons insisted he was “not concerned” over the length of time it was taking for Worcester Warriors to secure new owners.

Solomons has been busy signing players for next season and admitted he was close to making “the final announcement” regarding recruitment.

However, a takeover has yet to be completed at Warriors since the club was put up for sale by majority shareholders Sixways Holdings Limited in September.

The Aviva Premiership outfit last updated supporters on the ownership situation in February when chairman Bill Bolsover said they were “not restricted by a timeframe” for a sale to go through.

And he insisted the owners would continue to back the club in the meantime.

Speaking at a recent press conference Solomons said he had also experienced “no problems” when he came to look to strength his team ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.

“I am not concerned about it,” said Solomons on the sale of the club.

“I focus on the rugby and I found there has been good support so I have got no problems at all.”

After registering losses of £8.1million in the 2016-17 season, Bolsover released a statement earlier this month admitting the level of spending was “not sustainable”.

And he stressed the club were making “significant improvements” financially as they look to reduce the amount of support needed from their shareholders “by about 50 per cent”.

The club’s biggest expense has been wages which rose from £9.6million to £11.1million in the last financial year.

But when asked whether the budget had been cut for next season Solomons remained tight-lipped.

“I am perfectly happy with where we are,” he said.

“I am very happy with our recruitment and with the squad that we have got for next season.”

Solomons said it was “important” to bolster his side, who have yet to clinch their top-flight status, for next term.

Ashley Beck, Callum Black, Cornell de Preez, Michael Fatialofa, Michael Heaney, Jono Lance, Isaac Miller, Scott Van Breda, Francois Venter and Duncan Weir have all agreed to join Warriors in the summer.

Biyi Alo, David Denton, Michael Dowsett, Ben Howard, Sam Olver, Will Spencer, Huw Taylor and Jackson Willison will depart the club at the end of the season.

“Without taking anything away from anybody I think that with our recruitment we now have the requisite strength in depth to compete in what is a very tough competition,” Solomons said.

“You don’t just have the Premiership as you also participate in a number of other competitions.”

He added: “We are just about at the tail end of it (recruitment) so hopefully very shortly we will be able to make the final announcement.”
