DIRECTOR of rugby Alan Solomons has hinted there could be two more new faces added to Worcester Warriors’ squad for next season.

Warriors have announced 10 summer signings including internationals Duncan Weir, Francois Venter and Cornell du Preez since January.

Solomons had hoped to get his recruitment drive completed by the end of this season which concludes on Saturday when Warriors visit Northampton Saints (4pm).

But he now expects to have the final pieces in place and be in a position to reveal his “finalised” squad for the 2018-19 campaign by next week.

“We are pretty close (to finishing it),” Solomons said.

“I would imagine by next week it will be completely finalised.

“There might be a couple more (signings to come).”

Warriors left it until the penultimate weekend of the season to retain their Aviva Premiership status courtesy of a 44-13 thrashing of Harlequins last Saturday.

Despite being involved in a relegation battle with London Irish, though, Solomons has achieved plenty of success in the transfer market.

Weir, Venter and du Preez will make the move along with Ashley Beck, Callum Black, Michael Fatialofa, Michael Heaney, Jono Lance, Isaac Miller and Scott Van Breda this summer.

And Solomons said Warriors’ wins at Exeter Chiefs and Leicester Tigers had played a role in securing his targets.

“The response from players has been very positive,” Solomons added.

“We have won seven of our last 15 league games over the past six months and we have taken some reasonably big scalps.

“I think people can see that there is that ability here.”
