FORMER Worcester Warriors captain Donncha O'Callaghan will return to Munster after being appointed as a corporate ambassador for the province.

The 94-cap Ireland legend recently brought the curtain down on his glittering 20-year playing career, spending his final three seasons with Warriors.

Prior to joining Worcester in 2015, O'Callaghan made a record 268 appearances for Munster, picking up two Heineken Cups and two Magners League titles.

And the 39-year-old who holds an honours degree in sports management and is a UNICEF ambassador will now head back to his former club where he will begin his new role.

O'Callaghan will also be reunited with former team-mate Doug Howlett, who is the club's head of commercial.

“I am thrilled to continue my association with Munster, my home club, and to have the opportunity to give something back," O'Callaghan said.

“I am excited by this next challenge and look forward to working closely with Doug and his dedicated team as we continue to help Munster remain at the forefront of European rugby.”

During his time at Warriors, second row O'Callaghan made 63 outings and captained the Sixways side in the 2017-18 season.
