PHIL Davies, the Wales under 20s forwards coach, could be set for a similar role with Worcester Warriors, according to reports.

Former Leeds and Scarlets coach Davies is thought to have been offered the position by new Sixways boss Richard Hill, but the Welsh Rugby Union insist he has not handed in his notice and no talks have taken place about him leaving.

Hill did not comment on the possibility of Davies coming to Sixways, but admitted he is likely to add some new faces to his coaching team.

He said: “I’m looking at a few alternatives at the moment and I have a few people in mind.”

Davies is currently in Argentina with the Wales squad for the Junior World Championships. They were due to play Fiji yesterday, having won their opener against Samoa on Sunday.

Davies’ departure would be a blow to the WRU, who appointed the former Wales captain as their first national academy manager last year, combining that job with his role as under 20s coach.

A WRU spokesman said: “As it stands, we haven’t re-ceived any kind of intention to leave from Phil.”
