ALEX Grove, the in-form Worcester Warriors centre, is back on the international radar after being included in the Scotland ‘A’ squad to face England Saxons at Galashiels in a mouth-watering Calcutta Cup curtain-raiser on Friday, February 3 (7.30pm).

The Sixways academy product, who has three full caps for his country, has been included in the initial 15-man squad, which will be coached by Edinburgh Rugby’s Michael Bradley, who has taken the reigns from last year’s leader Nick Scrivener.

After Worcester’s relegation to the Championship, The Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) facilitated a loan move for Grove to Edinburgh in a bid to enhance his claims for a World Cup place.

However, that was not to be, but the 24-year-old outside-centre has been in impressive form this term as a mainstay of Richard Hill’s Aviva Premiership midfield.

The Scotland ‘A’ squad will convene for training at Murrayfield on Monday, before the group will be supplemented by members of the full squad for the opening two rounds of the RBS Six Nations Championship. Should Grove feature against the Saxons, he is likely to be going head-to-head with Warriors team-mate Matt Mullan.
