RICHARD Hill is hopeful both of his first-choice Worcester Warriors fly-halves should be fit for Friday night’s massive Aviva Premiership Sixways showdown with reigning champions Saracens (7.45pm).
Danny Gray was thrust into the spotlight as Warriors claimed a well-earned losing bonus point at Harlequins, but head coach Hill is confident both Andy Goode and Joe Carlisle will be available for Sarries’ visit The Worcester chief, inset, also reported positive news on star winger Marcel Garvey, who was carried from The Stoop pitch on a stretcher following a sickening clash between his face and Nick Easter’s knee.
Hill revealed: “Both Joe and Andy will be back this week. They both trained on Friday, but we didn’t risk them against Harlequins.
“After the Quins game, Marcel was sitting up in the dressing room and he had a bit of a headache and a fat lip.
“He took a nasty knock and had a lot of blood in the mouth, his mouth is a bit of a mess, but it is nothing serious and he was talking and making sense. It was a bad blow.
“He made a superb break just before that and, if he had found Miles Benjamin and the ball had gone to hand, then we would have been in for another try. Miles and Marcel have been a fixture this season, every week they have been on the wing.
“When Errie Claassens came on for Marcel, we had to switch Miles across to the right because of Errie’s left-foot kicking, but both played really well. It worked out well and didn’t seem to impact us too much.”
Meanwhile, Hill revealed his back row resources are set for a major boost when Worcester Cavaliers face Bath United in a friendly at The Rec tonight.
He said: “We will have an interesting back row tonight with Adam Balding, Neil Best and Kai Horstmann — so the three injured men are back.”
