WORCESTER Warriors supporters will be travelling in their masses to Friday’s British and Irish Cup final against Doncaster Knights at Castle Park (5.10pm).

At least seven official supporters’ coaches will be heading from Sixways as Warriors look to secure their first silverware in the Dean Ryan era.

Scrum-half Jean-Baptiste Bruzulier (JB) is set to skipper Warriors, who booked their place in the showpiece after a 15-13 semi-final home success against Leinster ‘A’.

Wing Cooper Vuna is also expected to feature for Warriors, who have fielded a squad mostly of fringe players during the competition.

Rookie fly-half Tiff Eden, who has been on loan at Nottingham, is also poised to play in the final.

Head coach Carl Hogg said: “JB will captain the team — there’s a real unity around the group and they have performed reasonably regularly as a side and have performed very well in some tough situations.

“JB has been instrumental in that and his leadership has been key.”

Hogg continued: “Tiff will potentially come back in. He’s been playing for Nottingham and, ironically, played against Doncaster last weekend.

“He’s another guy we have seen mature during the competition and we will see how he performs in in a cup final.

“Richard de Carpentier is also in our thoughts for Friday night. He’s been out in Hong Kong with England Sevens and he comes back into the reckoning.”

Doncaster Knights are coached by the experienced Clive Griffiths, who had a stint at Sixways, and reached the final after defeating Bristol in the semi-finals.

Warriors have beaten them twice in the Championship this term.

“Doncaster are a vastly improved side from when we first went there at the start of the season,” said Hogg.

“Defensively, they are very sound and work hard and have a big forward pack. They look in really good shape.”

He added: “Keeping our discipline in the middle third will be key. Doncaster have got a good drive so we have to make sure we are nice and clean in the middle third and give them no opportunities for points. I have watched a few of their games and they seem to have really good energy at the moment.”

Hogg is expecting a tight contest in front of a passionate crowd.

“This is something you should relish as a player,” said Hogg. "Going into hostile environments and sticking your chest out, that’s what the game is all about.

“We, too, have plenty of energy and the guys are raring to go for Friday. Our guys have matured and gelled and there’s real unity.”
