FLY-HALF Ryan Lamb admits Worcester Warriors can’t afford to give officials an opportunity to scupper their Aviva Premiership promotion bid.

Worcester travel to London Scottish for the first leg of their Greene King IPA Championship semi-final play-off on Saturday (1.45pm).

He believes Worcester paid the penalty for having Cooper Vuna and Jonathan Thomas yellow-carded in Saturday’s 30-26 defeat against rivals Bristol at Sixways.

“We know we cost ourselves a bit in the second-half with a bit of discipline issues,” said Lamb, who shone for Worcester.

“We were 20-7 up and in control and then there were a few discipline errors and Bristol came back.

“I didn’t see what Cooper was yellow-carded for. I was at the bottom of a ruck which is very rare for me.

“But Bristol took advantage and, as soon as we got back to full strength, we had another person sent off. I am told that decision was also harsh. You can’t give the referee an opportunity to make big decisions like that.

“We don’t want to leave our fate in anybody else’s hands.

“We go into these next two games with the destiny in our own hands. We have to go to London Scottish and put in a good performance.”

Warriors, who finished second behind Bristol in the table, recorded two wins against Scottish during the regular campaign, including a 34-17 victory at Richmond Athletic Ground in December.

“We have a big game against London Scottish and we’re looking forward to that,” said Lamb.

“When they came to Sixways they were right in the mix in the first-half so we know we have to be on our mettle. Down at Richmond it was a really tough game and we scored late tries to seal it.

“We know Scottish are a tough side and we are looking forward to the challenge.”
