THE prospect of facing Bristol’s replacement centre Ben Mosses will give Worcester Warriors’ coaches a different challenge to tackle.

With former Wales star Gavin Henson suffering a broken shin in last Wednesday’s first leg, Bristol chief Andy Robinson is expected to recall Mosses to the starting line-up.

Warriors should be well aware of Mosses’ threat — he scored Bristol’s last-gasp try in their 23-19 victory against Worcester at Ashton Gate in September.

He also grabbed a try in the return fixture at Sixways, which helped Bristol to a 30- 26 triumph last month.

Former Wales skipper Ryan Jones will also be on the sidelines for Bristol after damaging a shoulder in a collision in last week’s first leg.

Warriors’ director of rugby Dean Ryan said: “Bristol are losing experience, which is key, but they are gaining Mosses, who was pretty impressive when he played against us a few weeks ago.

“Injuries are par for the course.

“We have lost Andy Symons and Max Stelling, our firstchoice midfield, and this is a test for a club’s readiness to go into the Premiership.

“It’s not necessarily a test of your perfect 15 on a given night but it’s a test of your club’s ability to cope with what comes, week in week out, in the Premiership. I don’t see it detracting from the contest in any way.

“I am not trying to take anything away from Henson, who was hugely influential in the first leg. Mosses brings something different to the contest and we have to be ready for that.”

With just one Premiership promotion place up for grabs, Ryan believes Worcester and Bristol are under the same pressure to seal it.

“The prize is enormous and, because of where both clubs are trying to get to, it brings pressure on all of us,” said Ryan.

“How we behave with the pressure and how we perform in the pressure situations will dictate who is successful.

“Both sides know each other pretty well now and that’s due to pretty good coaching teams, who are trying to find little edges everywhere.

“There’s a danger of being lulled into thinking it will be the same again and I am pretty sure it won’t be.

“This will be a big few days for us in terms of getting everything right to be able to perform again.”
