SOUTH African legend Bakkies Botha is part of the Barbarians side who will face Worcester Warriors in a pre-season friendly at Sixways.

The 35-year-old Toulon lock went to the same primary school as Warriors skipper Gerrit-Jan van Velze, who can’t wait for the match on Saturday, September 5 (3pm).

Botha, who made 85 appearances for South Africa and won the World Cup in 2007, is one of five international stars confirmed.

Ex-All Blacks pair Ali Williams and Carl Hayman led Toulon to last season’s European Champions Cup crown.

Williams, a vastly experienced lock, featured in every game for New Zealand when they won the 2011 World Cup.

South African Pierre Spies and Australian winger Lachie Turner will also feature.

Van Velze, 27, said: “Bakkies and I went to the same primary school in Secunda and played together at the Bulls so it will be fantastic to come up against him.

“For us to face such an array of talented rugby names is an honour and we can’t wait to put ourselves to the test ahead of what promises to be a testing yet exciting start to the season.”
