ANDY Symons is leading the charge for Worcester Warriors in Movember this year but admits his chances of snagging a girlfriend have taken a hit as a result.

Premiership Rugby is running an Aviva Premiership Rugby league table with a 'Mo Captain' from each of the 12 clubs.

Symons and Andy Short are Warriors captains and with some impressive top lip growth – Symons admits the dating game is proving a tough nut to crack.

"Andy Short and I have got the honour of being captain this year,” he said.

"Movember is something that I really enjoy and get stuck into every year, this is probably my strongest year in terms of my tache – it's looking pretty good.

"I have cheated a bit to be honest, I had a bit of a running start but I need to clean it up – I will probably give it a bit of trim in the next few days.

"I'm a single man after all! I can't be going on dates looking terrible, I need to be at my best!

"Some of the boys are giving it a go but you would not really notice while there are other guys around the club who I think just like a moustache."

Premiership Rugby's new partnership with the Movember Foundation is designed to improve the physical and mental health of rugby fans across the country and contribute to the vital fundraising efforts of the charity.

The new relationship sees the men's health foundation become an official charity partner of Premiership Rugby.

Central to the new partnership is to support the UK fundraising efforts, dedicated to changing the face of men's health in Movember, the month formerly known as November.

At the heart of the partnership will be the new MOVE like a Pro initiative, launching in January, which offers rugby fans the opportunity to take part in a 12-week programme at their local Premiership Rugby club to increase health and wellbeing of fans at hour-long sessions using clubs' training staff and facilities to exercise and receive expert guidance.

The MOVE like a Pro programme will be part of Premiership Rugby's award-winning BreakThru community campaign and it's at the heart of the Movember Foundation's ongoing strategy to change the face of men's health.

Symons is adamant rugby should do all it can to prove there is nothing unmanly about tackling men's health.

"It's a really good and important cause – especially for us men to take our health seriously and get as many people involved as possible,” he added.

"It's massive, we want to have fun but the message behind it is very important, we want to get people talking about it.

"I'm not sure where Worcester are in the leader board just at the moment but we will be working hard to get higher.”
