WORCESTER Warriors have not ruled out bringing in an experienced scrum-half to bolster their resources.

Warriors chief Dean Ryan says Worcester-born-and-bred Jonny Arr’s season-ending injury has lost “a huge amount of experience” in the number nine jersey.

Former Royal Grammar School Worcester pupil Arr, 27, has played 177 times for the Sixways side and has clearly established himself as their first-choice scrum half.

But Arr is expected to miss the rest of the campaign after tearing lateral ligaments in his knee during the closing stages of Warriors’ 24-20 Aviva Premiership home defeat to Harlequins in early January.

Fellow scrum-half Luke Baldwin, who has played just once in the Premiership since arriving from Bristol in the summer, starts for Worcester in tomorrow’s match against Exeter Chiefs (3pm).

Meanwhile, Charlie Mulchrone is on the bench after eight appearances in the Premiership but only 106 minutes of action.

The former Rotherham Titans skipper started Warriors’ last Premiership outing at Wasps.

But he was hauled off at half-time by Ryan and replaced by Baldwin, who has recovered from injury.

Wales-born Jean-Baptiste Bruzulier is recovering from a hernia operation and has been yet to make a Premiership appearance for the Sixways club.

He had a loan spell at French Top 14 Clermont Auvergne at the start of the campaign after playing superbly for Warriors in their Championship play-off final success against Bristol last season.

Ryan said: “We’ve lost a huge amount of experience in an area at nine and 10 where we’ve been concerned about miles on the clock.

“To lose Jonny is a big blow, so we will consider what we do with the position over the next few months.”
