POPULAR prop Joe Rees is leaving Worcester Warriors after two seasons.

The 25-year-old announced his departure on social media and thanked his team-mates, coaches and fans for their support.

The Swansea-born tighthead made just seven Aviva Premiership appearances this term, starting once, and two in the European Challenge Cup.

He scored his maiden try for Warriors against Saracens at Twickenham in November.

The former Ospreys player has not featured for Warriors’ first team since playing against Bath at the Recreation Ground at the end of December.

“My time with the team has come to an end and I’d just like to thank all the boys I’ve played with for being great team-mates,” Rees told his Twitter followers.

“I’d also like to thank the coaches for giving me an opportunity to get a taste of English rugby, especially Mefin (Davies) who has been a great mentor over the years.

“Lastly to the fans who have always stuck with us over the last two years and given us great support home and away.”

During his debut campaign for Warriors, the Welshman made 24 appearances and helped them to British and Irish Cup success and promotion from the Greene King IPA Championship.
