WORCESTER Warriors scrum-half Francois Hougaard has been named in the BT Sport Aviva Premiership Rugby Dream Team.

The 28-year-old South African played nine times for Warriors after arriving at Sixways in February.

He had a major influence in Dean Ryan’s men winning a club-record four successive Premiership matches and finishing 10th.

The Dream Team award was handed out by former England internationals Lawrence Dallaglio and Austin Healey.

Hougaard was the Premiership player of the month for March and the first-ever Warrior to win the coveted honour.

He has rejoined the Springbok Sevens Olympic squad for the summer and played for the Blitzboks in their World Series tournament in Paris last weekend.

Hougaard was the only Warriors’ winner at last night’s glittering ceremony in central London.

Wing Cooper Vuna was shortlisted in the Citizen Try of the Season honour for his second touchdown for Warriors against Saracens at Sixways in their final Premiership match of the campaign.

Leicester Tigers’ Harry Thacker scooped that honour for his superb individual effort against Northampton Saints.

Warriors back row Sam Betty, an Acorns ambassador, was also shortlisted for the Aviva Community Player of the Season.

It was won by Sale Sharks’ John O’Donnell, who started volunteering at Wigan Youth Zone when he first signed with Sale Sharks in July 2014..

Worcester Valkyries’ Rachel Lund made the shortlisted in the Women’s Premiership Players’ Player of the Season section.

However, the women's accolade was won by Lichfield’s Harriet Millar-Mills.
