WORCESTER Warriors players have been snubbed for England Saxons’ tour to South Africa next month.

Reliable full-back Chris Pennell and rookie props Nick Schonert and Val Rapava Ruskin had been mooted as possibilities for the tour.

The trio all shone for Warriors in the Aviva Premiership.

However, Warriors chief Dean Ryan previously admitted he didn't think any Worcester players would make the cut.

And the Saxons' 27-man squad to play two tests against South Africa A, announced earlier today, does not include any players from Sixways.

However, former Worcester flanker Matthew Kvesic, now at Gloucester, has been picked.

The squad will play South Africa’s second team in Bloemfontein on Friday, June 10 and Outeniqua Park in George on Friday, June 17.

Saxons head coach Ali Hepher said: “Eddie Jones has given us a strong development squad to take on a South Africa A side. The squad has a good mixture of experienced players and emerging talent.

“The series will give the players international experience and will be an important stepping stone towards international honours."
