ENGLAND head coach Eddie Jones views soon-to-be Worcester Warriors player Ben Te’o as an inside centre.

The uncapped Te’o joins Warriors in the summer from Irish outfit Leinster and Jones believe he will be “a great option” for England at 12.

The 29-year-old switched codes in 2014, having represented Samoa in the 2008 Rugby League World Cup and won a National Rugby League title with South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Te’o is one of four uncapped players named in the England squad for their Three-Test tour to Australia which opens in Brisbane on June 11.

The powerful Te’o is eligible for the national through an English mother.

“Ben's a very talented player," said England boss Jones.

"He can play through the line, he's had a great season for Leinster.

“He's a big guy and he hits hard.

"Since I've taken the English job and known he wanted to play for England and qualifies for England, I've watched him carefully.

"I've kept in contact with him and he presents a great option for us at 12."

Warriors wing Bryce Heem, who finished the Aviva Premiership campaign with seven tries and picked up the club’s player-of-the-season honour, can’t wait to se Te’o’s impact at Sixways.

“Ben Te’o is a big lad and I am not sure if he will be playing 12 or 13 at Worcester,” said Heem.

“He’s been playing 12 recently and it will be great to see him in the Worcester jersey.

“It will be great to see him carrying and getting over the gain line.”

The news that New Zealand-born Te’o is seen as an inside centre by Jones is likely to be greeted with mixed feelings by Ryan Mills, Warriors’ current first-choice 12.

The former Gloucester player made the inside centre shirt his own.

Mills, who celebrates his 24th birthday next Monday, formed a reliable midfield partnership with Wynand Olivier until the South African suffered a season-ending torn hamstring against Exeter Chiefs at the beginning of April.
