WORCESTER was a “great choice” for flying wing Bryce Heem, who has “no regrets” after moving from the other side of the world.

It is the first time Heem has lived away from his native New Zealand but he’s settled well into life at Worcester Warriors.

Reflecting on his first season at Sixways, the Warriors star said: “I have really enjoyed it.

“I felt like I have learned a lot and hopefully the guys have learned from what I have brought from Super Rugby.

“We made huge strides throughout our season and hopefully we can carry on next season.

“It’s my first time living away from New Zealand and my wife and I have loved it.

“We think Worcester has been a great choice for us. My wife has made some great friends here too and we are both really happy and settled in Worcester.

“I have no regrets whatsoever. We are really happy and looking forward to a good summer break.”

Auckland-born Heem scored seven tries in 18 appearances for Warriors in his maiden season in the Aviva Premiership.

Before joining Worcester, Heem helped New Zealand outfit Chiefs to the semi-finals of the Super 15 and also guided Auckland to the final of the ITM Cup.

Warriors finished 10th in the Premiership and Heem believes they can climb English rugby’s top tier next season.

“We would love to get into the top four and I think we have a side who can do it but it’s about us being more consistent,” he said.

“We had some great patches last season and then, at times, have fallen off the waggon.

“Getting consistency game after game is our goal for next season.

“For everyone involved in the team, the collective goal is to play our best footy, put our best foot forward and go as far as we can.

“I would love to make the top four and play semi-final rugby in the Premiership and also play in the Champions Cup.

“They are all top quality sides in the Champions Cup and it would be great to play against them to see where we are as a team and where I am at as a player.”

Heem enjoyed a successful spell with the New Zealand sevens squad but has expressed an interest in restarting his international career with Samoa, where his father was born.

However, Heem is looking forward to taking a break from rugby this summer and celebrating his honeymoon.

“I got married in January and didn’t really have much of a break after the wedding because we went back to New Zealand and wanted to spend as much time as we could with our families,” he said.

“We are hoping to get away this summer and travel around Europe, starting in Turkey.

“My wife has planned the whole itinerary and I am really looking forward to resting the body and the mind.”
