TWO Worcester Valkyries players will be competing for Great Britain this weekend in the opening round of the Rugby Europe Grand Prix Sevens Series in Kazan, Russia.
Scotland international Stephanie Johnston and Welsh star Sian Williams have been picked for the women’s GB Royals as preparations continue for the Rio Olympic Games.
Former Worcester player Heather Fisher, who is now with Thurrock, has been included in the GB Lions squad for the competition.
Head coach Simon Middleton has named two squads for the tournament, with players from England, Scotland and Wales coming together for their last official competition ahead of the Olympics.
GB Lions will play Ukraine Portugal and Spain in the opening pool, while GB Royals face the Netherlands, France and Finland.
Kazan is the first of two legs for the Rugby Europe Grand Prix Sevens Series, with the second taking place in Brive, France, after the Olympics on September 24 and 25.
For this season, the GB Lions and GB Royals have taken the places of Wales and England.
