JACK Singleton insists England will not let the enormity of playing a World Rugby Under 20 Championship final at home hold them back tonight (7pm).

And the Worcester Warriors hooker says his side are determined to go out and “express themselves” against Ireland.

Singleton is among three Warriors players with lock Huw Taylor also starting and Andrew Kitchener hoping to make an impact off the bench.

England are bidding for their third world title after seeing off South Africa 39-17, thanks to six tries in an impressive display.

Thousands of fans are expected to pack out Salford’s AJ Bell Stadium and Singleton says they want to give their supporters something to cheer.

“Personally, I have not played in a final before, so it is going to be about controlling emotions in that first 10 minutes,” he said.

“But I think we have got enough experience in the squad to control it and we can take our chances when they get presented to us.

“We are not going to change the way we play, we like to express ourselves and we like to play if it is the right decision, so we are not going to go into our shells just because it is a final.

“We want to play exciting rugby and give the fans something to cheer about.”

England arrived at the tournament after experiencing their worst ever Six Nations, finishing in fifth place. But they quickly erased those memories by beating Italy 48-10 and Scotland 44-0 before edging Australia 17-13.

Singleton said the squad have become a “tight-knit” group and are keen to end a roller-coaster year on a high.

“We have come so far as a squad from the Six Nations, we have learnt a lot and it is going to be an amazing experience just to play in a final,” he said.

“It would mean everything to the boys (to win the tournament).

“Everyone is so excited now, especially as a lot of these boys played in the Six Nations and were quite disappointed with how that went.

“So to bounce back from that and perform like we have done is amazing and if we can win the final it would be a great achievement for this group of players.”

The 21-year-old, who joined Warriors’ academy set-up in 2014, added: “The under 20s changes each year, so we are never going to be a squad again.

“This will be the last opportunity for us to go out and play, so it is going to be a special occasion for all of us.”
