WORCESTER Warriors’ Chelsea Parker is in the running for a top Premiership Rugby award in London tomorrow (Thursday).

She is one of six people shortlisted for a national young achiever honour after being crowned a regional winner in the category.

The overall young achiever winner will be announced at the Premiership Rugby Parliamentary Community Awards in the House of Commons.

The Young Achiever Award will honour youngsters who have ‘made the most’ from initiatives such as Aviva Tackling Numbers, HITZ, On The Front Foot, Rugby 4 All, Something To Chew On, Move Like A Pro, and Urban Rugby Squad.

Parker started the HITZ programme at Warriors in October 2015 after her life had spiralled out of control.

Since being on the HITZ programme, Parker has overcome many personal hurdles and challenges.

However, her behaviour has now changed dramatically and she feels happier and in a safer place due to the HITZ programme.

Parker has chosen to pursue a Level 2 programme with HITZ and is looking at part-time work at Warriors, in which she feels safe and knows the surroundings.

She is known as an inspiration to a lot of the other HITZ learners and is mature in her approach in helping others face their fears and choose the right path.

Other regional winners shortlisted for Young Achiever of the Year are Jordan Wickens (Bath), Aaron George (Gloucester), Emilie Gabriel (Harlequins), Cameron Healey (Sale Sharks) and Michael Kennedy (Saracens).
