ONE of Worcester Warriors’ most popular players Jonny Arr is back in full training after recovering from a serious knee injury.

The 27-year-old scrum-half underwent a knee operation and missed the rest of the season after limping off in January’s 24-20 Aviva Premiership home defeat against Harlequins.

The former Royal Grammar School pupil has made 177 first-team appearances for Warriors – the most of any current player in their squad.

Worcester-born Arr had clearly established himself as Warriors' first-choice scrum-half until the injury struck.

However, the arrival of Francois Hougaard brought a Warriors revival and the South African is now the club’s first pick for the number nine jersey.

Head coach Carl Hogg said: “Jonny is fine. He’s come back to full training and it’s good to have him back on board after a lengthy knee injury. He’s fit and healthy.”

There is also good news on Springbok international Wynand Olivier, who missed the final three Premiership matches last term with a torn hamstring.

The 33-year-old centre, who joined Warriors from French Top 14 side Montpellier, left the field injured in the second half at Exeter Chiefs at the beginning of April.

He played 18 games last term and scored three tries, including fine individual efforts against Northampton Saints and Harlequins.

“Wynand is fine,” said Hogg. “He’s a fantastic professional player. We have a real good character and work ethic in the group.”

However, Warriors are expecting rookie prop Gareth Milasinovich to be sidelined for a lengthy period after tearing an Achilles tendon at Exeter.

“He will still be out for sometime,” admitted Hogg.

“It’s a significant injury, especially for a big man in the front row so that is something we have to treat correctly and properly through a lengthy process.”

Warriors start their Premiership season at Twickenham against star-studded European and Premiership Championships Saracens on September 3 (2pm).
