POWERFUL centre Ben Te’o will join up with Worcester Warriors’ French training camp after his England squad meeting this weekend.

The 29-year-old will be involved with England until next Monday after being named in Eddie Jones’ provisional 45-man elite player squad (EPS).

Warriors’ squad have arrived in Tignes for a high intensity pre-season training camp which will be rounded off with a warm-up match against Top 14 giants Clermont Auvergne on August 12.

“Ben will join us in France after the England camp at the weekend,” said Warriors’ high performance director Nick Johnston.

“Ben has been selected for the EPS squad which is good for us and for him and he will fly straight out after the camp.

“Ben is such a good professional. He came into the club this week and he came in last week when he was wasn’t due back to work until the Monday.

“He met the boys and showed good intent. We just want to get him integrated into our programme as soon as possible.”

Te’o, who converted to union from rugby league, is Warriors’ highest profile signing for this season’s Aviva Premiership campaign.

The New Zealand-born player impressed for Irish outfit Leinster last term and was fast-tracked into the England set-up for their summer tour to Australia.

England won the Test series 3-0, although Te’o didn’t feature on the field.

Johnston said: “Ben has done a lot of work and preparation and he’s been training with us this week with the rest of the boys who haven’t made the trip to France.

“He will be going off with England who are laying down the foundations for their autumn internationals.

“We spoke to Eddie Jones earlier in the week and their camp will be about him getting what he wants from his players.

“Ben will come back to us and we will get him playing as soon as we think he’s ready to play.

“He’s had a long season so we gave him an extra week off because he lives in Australia.

“He got to see his family and I am sure we will see the benefits of that once he’s playing for us.”
