MONDAY night rugby returns to Sixways in September as Worcester Cavaliers look forward to the 2016/17 Aviva A League campaign.

Warriors' second-string side have three home fixtures out of their five pool clashes as they hunt a top-two finish ahead of the semi-finals in April.

Their season gets underway away to Sale Sharks on Monday, September 12 before a first home game on Monday, September 19 against Northampton Wanderers.

Another home tie follows versus Newcastle Falcons a fortnight later at Sixways.

They will host local rivals Wasps on Monday, December 19 where the Cavs will look to finish the year on a high.

Their final pool match sees them travel to Leicester Tigers late in the season which will be confirmed at a later date.

Should Cavaliers make it through their pool, the semi-finals will take place on Monday, April 24 while the final is on Monday, May 1.

Worcester reached the final of the competition in 2014/15, losing to Saracens Storm.

Academy manager Chim Gale said: "The A League is a great opportunity for players to put their hands up for first-team selection.

"It's also a chance for the Academy players to learn their trade in the Warriors jersey playing alongside and against some top-class athletes.”

Entry to home Aviva A League fixtures is free for season ticket holders while prices for non-season ticket holders will be £5 for adults and free for juniors.
