GIANT lock Christian Scotland-Williamson was taken off in Monday’s A-League match “as a precaution”, according to head coach Carl Hogg.

The 23-year-old had a bang on the shoulder and replaced after 32 minutes of Worcester Cavaliers’ 45-20 home defeat against Northampton Wanderers.

But he is expected to be included in Warriors’ squad for Saturday’s Aviva Premiership crunch clash against Sale Sharks at Sixways (3pm).

“He had a bit of a dink on his shoulder on Monday and came off as a precaution because we are looking to use him this weekend,” explained Hogg.

“We are looking at him as a calling line-out forward so Monday night  matches give him an opportunity to call out the line-out.

“His injury on Monday wasn’t hugely significant and it was just about managing him over this week.”

The 6ft 9in forward has returned to competitive action after two years out of the sport while recovering from a serious back injury.

Scotland-Williamson has made appearances from the bench in all of Warriors’ three Premiership matches this term.

Fly-half Ryan Lamb expected to have recovered from a neck problem, which kept him out of Warriors’ 37-22 defeat Bath last Saturday.

Tom Heathcote played 80 minutes against his former club.

And Hogg admits he will have a selection “headache” around the number 10 jersey for the Sharks showdown.

“It’s an interesting dynamic and I thought Tommy (Heathcote) had his best influence on a game this season at Bath,” said Hogg.

“Some of our attacking shape in the first-half against Bath was good and Tommy weaved it together well so he had a huge influence in the game.”

Hogg added: “Ryan (Lamb) has played particularly well in the two games he’s been involved in soit gives us a headache but that’s exactly you want as a coach.”
