ENGLAND extended their winning run to 16 Tests as wing Elliot Daly’s late try clinched a dramatic 21-16 RBS 6 Nations victory over Wales in Cardiff.

They were facing the first loss of Eddie Jones’ reign as Wales led by two points with four minutes left but Daly finished off after a poor Jonathan Davies clearance and Owen Farrell converted to see England home.

Wales looked to have done enough to end England’s Grand Slam hopes as wing Liam Williams scored a first-half try and full-back Leigh Halfpenny kicked 11 points.

England led through a Ben Youngs touchdown while Farrell also booted two penalties but they had to dig deep into their resources before ultimately prevailing.

Worcester Warriors centre Ben Te’o came on as a replacement for the last 15 minutes.

England Under 20s remain unbeaten in the 2017 Six Nations after a hard-fought 37-21 victory over Wales in Colwyn Bay.

They hit back from 13-0 down with Ben Jones scoring all Wales’ points to lead 24-13 at the break through tries from Harry Randall, Max Wright and Warriors’ Will Butler as well as nine points from the boot of Jacob Umaga.

Wales responded in the second period through Chris Coleman’s try and a further Jones penalty.

Despite having Randall and Curtis Langdon sin-binned Zach Mercer’s try earned the bonus point and settled England’s nerves, while James Grayson’s conversion and penalty sealed victory.

Along with Butler, forwards Joe Morris and Justin Clegg also started for England.

England coach Tom Williams said: “Coming to Colwyn Bay was never going to be easy and you can’t underestimate the fact we are happy to get the win away from home.

“However, we felt that going 13 points down was the result of the boys not being as focused as they could have been and it’s important to mention we dug ourselves out of a hole in the first half.

“This group are still learning and developing on and off the field and the fact we set them such high standards is because of the potential they have.

“What we also know is we have players in this team who will dig deep and have got the guts and resilience to play at high standards under extreme pressure.”

England women scored 11 tries as they cruised to a 63-0 bonus-point win over Wales in the 2017 Six Nations at Cardiff Arms Park.

Worcester Valkyries wing Lydia Thompson scored a hat trick of tries, while Amy Wilson Hardy and Danielle Waterman both crossed twice.

The Red Roses went in at half-time with a 36-0 lead thanks to scores from Wilson Hardy, Amy Cokayne, Natasha Hunt, Thompson, Katy Mclean and Sarah Hunter with Emily Scarratt kicking four conversions.

They continued their form in the second half as Thompson (2), Waterman (2) and Wilson Hardy all went over again.

England managed to keep Wales out to mark Darlington Mowden Park Sharks second row Tamara Taylor’s 100th international appearance with a comfortable win.

As well as Thompson, Valkyries’ props Rochelle Clark and Laura Keates also started the match.

Taylor said: “To get such a win was brilliant but we’re not the finished product yet. There are still things for us to work on but we are now beginning to see our potential as a team.”
