WORCESTER Valkyries' Lydia Thompson was among the try-scorers as England's women finished the International Women’s Rugby Series undefeated after beating New Zealand 29-21 in Rotorua.

Tries from Thompson, Emily Scarratt, Abbie Scott, Marlie Packer and Vicky Fleetwood held off a determined Black Ferns, who led 14-7 after 30 minutes, to give England their first away win in New Zealand since 2001.

Thompson crossed in the corner for the 27th try of her England career and a third of the series.

Worcester prop Rochelle Clark played 54 minutes for England who have now won their last nine matches.

They clinched the Six Nations Grand Slam earlier this year.

England next head to the Rugby World Cup, which kicks off in Dublin on August 9.

The Red Roses have been drawn in Pool B alongside Spain, Italy and USA.

Meanwhile, Worcester's Heather Fisher was part of the England squad who finished fourth today in the Rugby Europe Women’s Grand Prix Series in Malemort, France.

Fisher broke out of England’s half to put her side 7-0 ahead in their final game against Ireland but they eventually lost 26-7.
