NEW recruits Dorian Jones and Grayson Hart are set to get their first run-out at Sixways when Worcester Cavaliers tackle Sale Jets tonight (7.30pm).

Scrum-half Hart left Ealing Trailfinders last week to sign for Warriors until the end of the Aviva Premiership season.

His arrival was soon followed by Worcester’s capture of fly-half Jones on loan from Dragons for the rest of the campaign.

And the experienced duo have now been selected at half-back in Cavaliers’ Premiership Rugby A-League clash with Sale.

“We have got an A-League game on Monday and I have no doubt both of those boys will be involved in that match,” director of rugby Alan Solomons said.

“I have been impressed with both of them in training. Grayson has now been here an extra week and Dorian has slotted in very well as well.

“They are nice guys and have both been around the game.

“You need experience to come in in a situation like this and provide cover.”

With Luke Baldwin suffering a season-ending knee injury and Francois Hougaard struggling to shake off an ankle problem, Solomons said Hart was an “invaluable” addition to his squad.

The New Zealand-born 29-year-old played under Solomons at Edinburgh and gained three caps for Scotland in 2014.

“Once Luke went down injured we were sitting in a situation where we had three scrum-halves and we don’t really have a scrum-half in the academy,” Solomons said. “Francois has been struggling with an ankle injury.

“Jonny (Arr) has had no problems with concussion but he has in the past and Mikey Dowsett has had injuries too.

“I think you are very thin if you don’t have that fourth player so it is really good to have Grayson here. I know him and he knows our set-up.

“He will know our defensive system because he worked under Omar (Mouneimne) at Edinburgh and he is an experienced player so he will quickly adjust to our attack requirements.

“He will be invaluable to us.”

Solomons said he also felt it was “sensible” to bring in Jones as he will battle it out with Jamie Shillcock and Sam Olver for the number 10 shirt. The 26-year-old stand-off has scored 208 points in 66 games for Dragons.

“Remember that we never replaced Jono Lance when he went back to Australia,” Solomons said.

“We are hoping that Tommy (Heathcote) will be able to play on April 18 but he has had a long time out with concussion.

“Shilly’s ankle has not been 100 per cent as well so every time someone goes down there is a problem. We certainly needed that extra fly-half.

“I was looking to bring in Duncan Weir (from Edinburgh on loan) but unfortunately that was not able to happen so Dorian became available before the cut-off date and I think it was sensible for us to take him.”

Elsewhere in the backline, academy duo Nick David and Alex Hearle join Tom Howe in the back three while Warriors and England U18 star Ollie Lawrence partners captain Will Butler in the centres.

In the pack, Coventry’s Kai Owen lines up with Beck Cutting and Simon Kerrod in the front row while Pierce Phillips and James Scott occupy the second row.

The back row sees academy pair Ted Hill and Tom Dodd joined by the experienced Matt Cox while fellow first-teamers Biyi Alo, Andrew Durutalo, Michael Dowsett and Sam Olver are on the bench.
