ALAN Solomons is expected to stick with Jamie Shillcock at fly-half – but Dorian Jones is continuing to impress Worcester Warriors' director of rugby.

Shillcock, 20, has worn the number 10 shirt for Warriors’ last six Aviva Premiership games and is set to keep hold of it for Saturday's home clash with Newcastle Falcons (3pm).

But Jones is also likely to feature after putting in a “confident” and “assured” performance in Worcester Cavaliers’ 52-21 trashing of Sale Jets on Monday night.

The 26-year-old has joined the Sixways side on loan from Dragons until the end of the season to provide cover at stand-off.

And Solomons said he was pleased with Jones’ showing for the Cavaliers as he notched two conversions before being replaced by Sam Olver at half-time.

“I thought Dorian did really well,” Solomons said.

“I thought both sets of half backs did well, but I thought Dorian was a presence on the field.

“He managed the game well and kicked well, both out of hand and for the posts.

“He showed good distribution skills and is certainly brave enough defensively, so it was very positive. “He has also made a good impression in training since he has come here.

“He seemed confident and assured and that’s why I said he was a presence there.”

Warriors are on a run of three straight defeats including a 58-25 hammering at the hands of Sale Sharks at the AJ Bell Stadium.

Jones made the move to Worcester three days after the heavy loss at Sale as Solomons looked for “much-needed depth” at fly-half.

But when asked whether the Welshman, son of ex-Warriors star Kingsley Jones, was pushing for a starting spot, Solomons replied: “Dorian has just started here.

“Shilly has done well for us so the fact that we didn’t play well as a team against Sale is not an individual’s fault.

“Teams win or lose games.”

With Francois Hougaard struggling to shake off an ankle injury, Grayson Hart could also be in contention to make his Warriors debut.

The scrum-half signed for Worcester ahead of the trip to Sale and combined at half-back with Jones for Cavaliers.

Full-back Chris Pennell and flanker Sam Lewis are poised to come back into the team after recovering from injury.

Lock Anton Bresler misses out with a calf problem but Solomons will be boosted by the return of back rower Marco Mama.

“I am very happy to see him back, that’s for sure,” Solomons added.

“He brings energy and is a fantastic rugby player.”
