RYAN Powell will make his first start for Worcester War-riors in their final pre-season game before the new campaign gets under way.

The scrum-half will line up against Italian outfit Calvi-sano at Sixways tomorrow (8pm) as director of rugby John Brain fields his strong-est side so far.

Powell made a big difference when he came on in Satur-day's 41-19 defeat against his former club Cardiff and is in pole position to claim the number nine jersey for the Premiership opener with Bris-tol the following Saturday.

Captain Pat Sanderson re-turns after Brain received special dispensation from the RFU for him to come back before the end of his mandatory 11-week rest period following England's Australia tour.

Sanderson will play at blind-side in an impressive back-row which also comprises Tom Harding and Kai Horst-mann. Harding came on as a second half-substitute at Car-diff Arms Park and will be eager to prove his fitness following a hip operation.

Another player making his comeback from injury is prop Chris Horsman, who hasn't played in 2006 following an operation on his ankle.

With Tony Windo sidelined by a back injury, Lee Fortey continues at loose-head while twin brother Chris is alongside him at hooker.

Elsewhere, Shane Drahm takes over from James Brown at fly-half and Dale Rasmus-sen has recovered from a neck injury and makes his first pre-season appearance.

Worcester have already seen off one Italian side with ease at Sixways this summer but they may face a stiffer test against Calvisano, who are Heineken Cup regulars and finished third in Italy's Super 10 last season.

On Saturday, Warriors are also sending a team to play Moseley at Billesley Common.

It will feature a number of the club's promising youngsters but will also include several experienced campaigners like Craig Gillies and Darren Morris.

New signing Lee Best, who missed the Cardiff game after suffering a back spasm, starts the game at full-back.
