WORCESTER have added more Heineken Cup opposition to their preparations for the 2012-13 domestic and European campaign.

Having already announced a pre-season trip to Cardiff Arms Park to face former Warriors forwards coach Phil Davies’ Cardiff Blues team, Worcester have revealed they will also be tackling another Welsh region — Llanelli Scarlets.

Richard Hill’s men will be in action on home soil for the first time this pre-season on Saturday, August 18 (3pm), when the Warriors welcome the Scarlets as part of three fixtures in the space of one action-packed week at Sixways.

Worcester then face two difficult matches against Championship opposition as they first entertain Rotherham Titans on Tuesday, August 21 (7.30pm).

Warriors have, during the close-season snapped up Semisi Taulava and Rob O’Donnell from the Titans.

Worcester, who will kick-off their pre-season matches on Saturday, August 11, when they travel to the Welsh capital to face Cardiff Blues at The Arms Park (2.30pm), complete their preparations under floodlights on Friday, August 24, when Plymouth Albion arrive at Sixways (7.30pm).

“We are very pleased with the pre-season fixtures we have lined up as we build up to the new Aviva Premiership season,” said head coach Hill.

“Cardiff Blues and Llanelli Scarlets will see us tackle two very talented Heineken Cup sides, while the visit of Rotherham Titans and Plymouth Albion close together will also give us difficult tests in a short period on home soil before the league kicks-off.

“Our scheduling of our pre-season programme will give us a chance to give valuable game time to the entire playing squad and it would be great to see as many fans at Sixways right behind the team for the three games in one busy week before we start the league campaign.”

Worcester last faced Scarlets in the LV= Cup in November 2009 when the Welsh region secured a 32-17 victory at Parc y Scarlets.

The Scarlets squad currently includes the likes of Wales internationals Jonathan Davies, Rhys Priestland and George North.
