AFTER an extremely exciting weekend of rugby, we now know the path we must cross to secure our spot back in the English top-flight.

There have been interesting results over the past six weeks, but the top four sides from the league have indeed made it into the semi-finals of the play-offs.

Once again, as in the regular season, Worcester Warriors have emerged as the top seeds.

This will potentially give us the luxury of choosing which leg of the final we play at home.

We are well aware there is a massive job to do before we can consider this but, all going to plan, it will be an interesting debate.

Saturday was fantastic for all involved with the club.

It may well not have been Bristol’s strongest outfit but to win so convincingly against anybody is a great achievement.

We can take huge confidence into the next few weeks and, most importantly, some strong momentum.

There were superb performances across the board in our 81-13 win.

The pack dominated the set-piece and won the physical battle in open play with strong running and big hits in defence.

Greg Rawlinson topped off a man-of-the-match 100th appearance with a well-worked team try.

I am sure it will be a lasting memory he takes with him.

Along with Greg’s, there were several other superb team efforts and a few moments of individual brilliance.

Jake Abbott marked his return to fitness with a great try, showing all the hard work has paid off in the gym.

My favourite try had to be Miles Benjamin’s after he finished off fantastic inter-play and a neat chip by Tom Arscott.

The only thing that could have made Saturday better for me personally was to be out there playing with the boys when all this happened.

Bedford Blues now stand in our way as we chase down two pieces of silverware and that all-important promotion spot. We travel east at the weekend looking to follow our previous success at Goldington Road where we took away Bedford’s long-standing undefeated home record.

As a squad, we are highly motivated to come away at the end of the season with all the spoils.

Saturday also gives us an opportunity to lay down our intent for the following weekend when we meet again in the play-off semi-final.

On the other side of the British & Irish Cup draw, a strong Pontypridd side host Bristol.

Ponty will be a tough test for our West Country rivals.

They have been very strong in both the cup and the Welsh Premiership.

Bristol will, of course, look to put things right from the weekend and salvage something from what has been a long, hard year.

The next few weeks will be very interesting.

For those travelling across to Bedford at the weekend, have a safe trip and I will hopefully see you there.
