OUR 16-7 win over Bath in the Aviva Premiership at Sixways on Friday night had been coming for a while as we had been threatening it against other teams recently.

It was great to finish them off with Andy Goode slotting the late drop-goal to secure the win, but there had been a lot of hard work to get us into that position.

I felt the forwards’ work-rate was fantastic and characterised by Matt Mullan chasing back and clearing up Tom Biggs’ kick through at full-back.

Their work around the park was really good.

Meanwhile, Joe Carlisle had one of his best games in a Warriors jersey — he controlled things and kept putting us in the right area of the pitch, which allowed us to apply pressure on Bath.

One of the reasons Joe was able to put Miles Benjamin through a gap for his try was because Joe had been threatening the line and taking the ball up very flat.

He made sure Bath were looking at him as a running threat, which took the focus off Miles and it was a lovely, late inside-pass that sent him clear.

If you give Miles a metre, he will often grab the chance and then takes some stopping, as we saw with his try.

It was a shame that we picked up a few knocks here and there, but that is the nature of the game and Bath suffered a few too. That just shows the level of intensity and physicality the game was played at.

These injuries will be a good test of our strength in depth, but we are quite well blessed in the back row and there are several guys who can step up to the plate, as well as some good youngsters in the academy.

Neil Best will be a big loss for however long he is out but, knowing him and how strong he is, he will be back pulling on the shirt as soon as he physically can.

It would be great to go to Exeter on Saturday and win — we are more than capable of doing that. We went there and won well in the Aviva ‘A’ League earlier this season and they had a very strong side out then.

They will bring huge physicality and a very strong set-piece, so it will be up to us to match them physically to take away their strengths.

It will be fantastic to get a win this weekend but, regardless of who we are playing, it is important for us to back up a victory with another in the next game, which is something we have struggled to do in the past.

Personally, it was good to be on the pitch for the final whistle on Friday and the Premiership is where I want to be playing.

I am working hard towards that and feel I am improving with every game I play. My form is definitely going up and up and, hopefully, I am showing the coaches I can add a little bit extra to the team.
