TODAY is a big day for this club.

Leicester Tigers stand in our way of a second consecutive Aviva Premiership win at Sixways and the chance to leapfrog Bath, our previous victims at home.

We had our final training session yesterday before we face off at 2pm today.

Our preparation has been thorough and we are in a good place to send the Tigers back to Welford Road with their tails between their legs.

Leicester travel to Sixways on the back of two tough Heineken Cup matches against Clermont Auvergne.

The Tigers’ players will be battle-hardened after these games, however, their focus on us will have been fairly short in comparison to our analysis of them.

They are blessed with a superb squad of players and a legacy that goes back decades.

For those of us lucky enough to be taking the field, it is our opportunity to do something special.

Not since March 2008, have we beaten Leicester — a match that saw Andy Goode lining up for the opposition! Andy will, however, be on the winning side this time.

Looking at the side the Tigers are putting out, it seems their game-plan will be slightly different to the previous few weeks.

Up front, we can expect the usual powerful, attritional display, however, the back-line is where the main change occurs.

Moving Manu Tuilagi to outside-centre allows Leicester to bring in a second ball-player in Billy Twelvetrees.

This extra distributor suggests their intention to play and keep the ball moving. Our work-rate in defence will be tested.

The year ends with a few ‘what-ifs’ and ‘could-haves’.

I don’t want to be using such phrases in next week’s column and a win against Leicester today will make the narrow defeats to Wasps, Quins and Newcastle easier to stomach.

2012 promises to be a very exciting year for all involved with the Warriors and I truly believe it will be our most successful to date.

With the recent additions of Ezra Taylor and Ravai Fatiaki and, with Kai Horstmann, Adam Balding and Ceri Jones returning soon, our squad is looking very strong. I am excited.

I hope you’ve had a fantastic Christmas and are looking forward to the new year as much as I am.
