WE are looking forward to playing Saracens at Sixways on Friday night — in fact, we are just looking forward to having a league game on home soil after a few weeks away.

Hopefully, there will be a big Friday night crowd and the people of Worcester always seem to be in good voice when they come to our evening games at the end of a working week.

We have been playing quite well in the last few matches, but there are still a few things to work on. If we can keep improving week in, week out, we will stop losing these close games by the odd couple of points.

Sarries will have a few of their internationals away and, although they have a good squad and do the basics well, without some of their game-changers, they could be a little easier to contain.

If we can get our attack clicking, there could be the opportunity for us to score a few tries.

We’ve watched footage of Sarries’ last-kick defeat to Leicester from Sunday, but hopefully we can sow the game up and won’t need a late drop-goal to win the match.

It will be good to have at least one of Andy Goode and Joe Carlisle back but, saying that, I thought Danny Gray had a superb game against Harlequins. He was up against Nick Evans, who is not only one of the best fly-halves in the Aviva Premiership, but the whole world.

The way Danny ran the game was impressive, especially as it was his first league start of the season.

Also, our back row trio of Neil Best, Adam Balding and Kai Horstmann were all set to make their comebacks from injury in the Cavaliers friendly against Bath United at The Rec last night.

They are all big players and it has been great to have them back in training again over the last couple of weeks.

Also, Marcel Garvey is fine after his run-in with Nick Easter in our game at Quins — he’s a bit sore and has had stitches in his mouth, but seems OK.

We are more than capable of attacking and changed our focus for the game against Quins compared to our game-plan at Sale the previous week. At Edgeley Park, we stuck closely to our plan and it very nearly worked.

But we then decided to loosen the reins a bit more against Quins because of the way they play. We showed what we can do and hopefully we can do some more of that on Friday night.

Quins do the basics very well, which is the reason why they are top of the league. Not many front rows have competed against ours this season, but the conditions were a real leveller.

As a team, we are a lot more competitive these days and there are very few sides that are capable of giving us a hammering.

We are right up there at the top of the table in terms of our defence and I think that plays a big part in us taking points out of matches on a regular basis.
