Five screen forgotten interviews

A series of interviews with the likes of Peter Cook, Sir Sean Connery, and Enoch Powell are to be broadcast for the first time.

The interviews were carried out by the late actor, comedian and broadcaster Bernard Braden in 1968.

He recorded more than 350 conversations with faces of the 1960s from the worlds of showbusiness, film, politics and sport. The interviews, recorded at his own expense, will be broadcast on Five as part of the channel's autumn line-up.

In 1968 Unseen, viewers will see his interviews with Robert Maxwell, Cilla Black, Lulu, and Quentin Crisp as well as Sir Sean, Cook and Powell.

The hour-long programmes will also re-interview some of those originally filmed to reveal what the 60s meant to them.

Five's director of programmes Ben Gale said: "I'm delighted we have secured 1968 Unseen, it's a fascinating insight into one of the pivotal years of the 20th century and still resonates today. It is a welcome addition to our rich autumn line-up."

Other shows in the autumn schedule include Dangerous Adventures for Boys, in which famous fathers and their sons mount expeditions in a Boy's Own-style journey of adventure and self-discovery.
