Cheryl Cole has said she is not her husband's keeper and she is determined he should be a "free spirit".
Allegations were previously reported that the Girls Aloud singer and X Factor judge's footballer-husband Ashley Cole had been unfaithful.
But Cole was recently seen wearing her wedding ring again in an interview with Jonathan Ross, having previously removed it.
In an extract from Girls Aloud's new autobiography Dreams That Glitter, published in OK! magazine, Cole said: "People make mistakes, stuff happens. I believe everyone should be a free spirit. Even in my marriage, Ashley's a free spirit.
"I'm not his keeper. I believe in letting people live their lives and be free, so Ashley can have time with his friends when he wants, he can go out when he wants.
"I'm not the type of person to ring him and be like: 'Where are you, who are you with, what's happening, what time will you be in, why haven't you answered your phone?' I've been that person in the past and I don't like it. I won't let anything change me and make me revert to being that type of girl, because it's not me."
Cole said she could hurt no more than she already has.
She described people as "too judgmental" and added: "I can call my husband all the names, but you can't because you don't know him."
Cole also talked of her troubled years as a teenager, saying: "I'd been clinically depressed and dangerously underweight. I was having terrible panic attacks and suffered from anxiety, and as a result my appetite went."
She said she had previously taken anti-depressants. Cole said her weight dropped to 5st 11lb at its lowest and she ended up looking like a "walking corpse".
