Shia LaBeouf has opened up about his romance with Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan.

The normally tight-lipped Transformers star, who began dating the British actress after sparks flew on the set of Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps last summer, said they are compatible because they prefer to shy away from the limelight.

"Neither one of us are fame whores - it works out: it's not like we're the premiere couple; we're not the red-carpet king and queen," he said in an interview with US GQ.

He gushed about Carey, describing her as "an unbelievably thought-provoking actress, the most talented actress I've ever met in my life, by leaps and bounds."

Shia revealed why he likes to stay schtum about his relationship.

"I never really had anything in my life that was off-limits. But with this, just out of respect, I just don't want to f*** around," he added.
