LIKE most of the other businesses in Tenbury Wells, Singapore Garden is still recovering from last summer's floods. The Cantonese restaurant in Market Street was filled with water when the Kyre Brook broke its banks.

But earlier this year, after months of renovations, it re-opened, so I went to along to see if it was still as good as I knew it was before.

And I'm delighted to say that it was, in fact, even better. The food was delicious, the new layout of the restaurant was more welcoming, and the service - well it was second to none.

Now, Oriental food has to be my favourite of any; give me a rice or a noodle dish over a traditional English roast any day of the week. So I may be a little biased with my review, but in all fairness, Singapore Garden provides some of the best Oriental food I have tasted - and I've tried a few.

Four of us sat down at a cosy corner table and were soon furnished with a packed menu and supplied with drinks. The menu was full of all the usual Chinese and Cantonese dishes, with a few Thai and Vietnamese ones also thrown in. and there was plenty of choice.

We started with a sample of the appetisers to share - Chinese smoked chicken with seaweed (£4.50), sesame prawn toast with sweet chilli dipping sauce (£4.80), and chicken satay skewers (£4.50).

Each dish was bursting with flavour and it was an enjoyable feast. The prawn toast was described as the best ever had, and we all agreed that our favourite dish was the smoked chicken and seaweed - which sparked a lengthy debate about whether it was in fact seaweed or shredded cabbage. The waitress settled the debate by quietly informing us it was cabbage.

Next came our main meals. Two of us had ordered the crispy hot shredded beef with garlic and chilli capital sauce (£7), one opted for the kaeng massaman (Thai southern-style curry) (£7), and the fourth chose the kaeng kew - Thai green curry - (£7). We had a selection of sticky rice, egg fried rice and chips to accompany the dishes.

When the food arrived in small porcelain pots it didn't look enough, but halfway through we were all struggling to finish. The food was succulent and delicious and could not be faulted in anyway.

To end the evening I decided on toffee lychees served with ice cream. It was rather like eating mini toffee apples and I have to admit they were not really to my taste.

Altogether it was a superb evening, with good food and service, and somewhere I would definitely urge you to try.
