Old friends reunite to pay special tribute to The Who

The Whoo have a special date at Drummonds on Sunday.

TWO Worcester musicians have reunited after 25 years to pay tribute to The Who.

Nick McCarthy and Ian Wilson first played together in 1979 in local rock band Rough Justice.

When the group split they went their separate ways and embarked on different musical projects. Last year, when McCarthy and singer Mark Pearsall started up The Who tribute group The Whoo, they recruited Wilson along with Rob Allen on keyboards and Pav Tsouvallaris on bass.

"Getting the right musicians for this band was all important. The Who are all strong musicians and personalities and we needed to ensure the members all had the right attitude for the job," said McCarthy.

The Whoo will play their first Worcester gig at Drummonds on Sunday, followed by a show at Stourport Boat Club on Friday, May 23.
