A WORCESTERSHIRE band could soon join the Police and the Sex Pistols at a major summer festival.

Unsigned groups, solo artists and DJs are being given the chance to play at the Isle of Wight Festival. All they have to do is prove their worth by winning a BT Battle of the Bands competition.

The competition's judging panel, including the festival organiser John Giddings, will select finalists from 10 regional heats to appear at a live final.

BT's Matthew Dearden, who will help judge entrants, said: "This not only offers a once-in-a-lifetime chance for an unsigned act to appear at the famous Isle of Wight Festival, but extends a helping hand to aspiring musical talent."

The Isle of Wight Festival takes place at Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle of Wight, from Friday, June 13' to Sunday, June 15.

To enter the contest, entrants must upload a track at www.bt.com/isleofwight, complete with a biography and photograph.
