COLOSSUS of English theatre Peter Hall directs Chekhov's masterpiece at Malvern Theatres next month.

Hall, founder of the Royal Shakespeare Company and former director of the Royal National Theatre, is bringing Stephen Mulrine's translation of Uncle Vanya to life for English Touring Theatre.

Starring Neil Pearson and Nicholas le Prevost, as well as the much-in-demand Michelle Dockery, the production has been described by critics as tough and taut, "wading briskly across puddles of unhappiness without pity".

Dockery plays Yelena to le Prevost's Vanya, and Pearson's Astrov.

Uncle Vanya is on from Tuesday, April 1 to Saturday, April 5. For tickets call the box office on 01684 892277 or visit www.malvern-theatres.co.uk
