HERE is a unique concept - a show that starts as play and ends as a country dance.
The Polish Play, at Worcester Arts Workshop next month, is a humorous, warming production created by Gavin Stride especially for village halls and small community venues.
Described as "nothing up our sleeves" style theatre, it tells the story of a father and daughter from Poland who arrive in England as she starts a career as a nanny and he worries about the family farm back home.
Using an accordion, YouTube, Yuri Gagarin and the 1974 World Cup finals, the piece tackles themes of belonging, growing up and finding a place in the world.
It comes to Worcester as part of the Shindig rural touring scheme.
Talking about the play, a spokesperson for Shindig said: "I was totally engrossed with this, as was the audience.
"It had a fresh, experimental edge to it."
The Polish Play is performed at the Arts Workshop at 7.30pm on Friday, April 4.
For tickets, priced £7, call the box office on 01905 21095.
