MUSIC inspired by the fantasy author Tolkien will be on the programme when Malvern Male Voice Choir performs its annual concert in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The choir will be joined by young singers from Somers Park Primary School, conducted by David Cowell, who will be singing will be singing excerpts from West of the Moon, a setting of poems from The Lord of the Rings by J R R Tolkien, who lived some of his life in Worcestershire, and visited Malvern frequently.

The male voice choir will be performing a mix of Welsh choral standards, hits from musicals, music from Ireland and America and a couple of other classics.

Charles Pavey, conductor of the Male Voice Choir, said: "The magical sound of the two choirs will make for a very contrasting evening and bold programming will ensure that the concert shows off both choirs at their best."

The concert, on Saturday, April 16, starting at 7pm, is entitled Song to the Moon, and also features local soprano Emma Burrows who has been a regular performer for Cancer Research UK in the past.
